As I watched rugby almost the whole day last Friday, I got wind of the death of Chinua Achebe, one of the world’s most prolific writers, and a literary gem in Africa. Browsing through comments on Yahoo, the common narrative was “Nope, never heard of this man.” It made me wonder if surely a figure like Chinua Achebe isn’t that recognised, then what does the world recognise about Africa?
