FARMERS in North Rift region have decried the slow pace of maize intake at the Eldoret National Cereals and Produce Board depot. They are currently selling their maize to the cereals but are worried that the intake is almost grounded at the depot due to malfunctioning of the maize dryers at the depot. Previously it could take one some hours to offload 300 bags of 90kg of maize when the dryer and silos were function but now they take at least one week. The delay has also been brought about by the International Labour Organisation's new laws which requires repacking of maize into 50kg bag. Jane...
