POLICE are investigating a cartel of Somali nationals suspected to be behind the importation of millions of contraband sugar into the country. A joint operation on Tuesday this week led by several CID officers, officials from the Kenya Sugar Board and Kenya Revenue Authority recovered more than one thousand bags of smuggled sugar. KSB CEO Rosemary Mkok said the sugar was recovered at a godown in Bondeni area in Mombasa following intelligence reports.
