SIXTEEN-year-old Kenyan Mihir Malde was the star attraction at the ongoing Mapinduzi Cup table tennis tournament as Kenya defeated Pemba in the men’s opening match. Malde, a Year 11 student at Brookhouse School, oozed confidence in his opening match and savoured straight sets of 11-7, 11-4, 11-3 to beat Pemba’s Shaban Mohammed. Mahir was at it again when he upset Tanzania’s top seed 1, Massoud Mitalaso 3-1 before losing to Tanzanian veteran Yahya Mungilwa. Kevin Mwangi lost 2-3 to Massoud in a nail bitting duel.
