More than 150 families in Pokot South have been asked to move from their farms since the area is prone to land slides. Speaking to press in Kabichbich town yesterday, Pokot South District Commissioner Kigen Kipkorir said by today morning 63 families will have moved. Kipkorir said the most affected are Nyarikulian, Cheratak, Tilakai, Kasawai and Chepkoiket villages. “I ask residents still in affected areas to leave immediately,” he said. The commissioner asked the Kenya Red Cross and other wellwishers to supply the residents with tents and food.
