Murang’a women’s representative Wanjiru Chege yesterday asked the Provincial Administration to crack down on illicit brews and brewers. Speaking at Gikoe Secondary School where she presided over a prize giving ceremony yesterday, Wanjiru decried the brew’s increased consumption. “Alcoholism has increased and government should not sit and watch as it continues to spread,” she said. She said alcoholism is to blame for the county’s dwindling population adding that if the menace is not curbed many schools might close down due to lack of children.
