Trans Nzoia to cut construction costs using novel technology

Trans Nzoia county government is set to acquire three machines for making interlocking soil blocks, hoping to slash the cost of building new classrooms by half. It will purchase three machines from Turkish firm Euromart at a cost of Sh3.5 million each. Isaac Kogo, county executive committee member for Education, said about 100 classrooms will be built using the appropriate technology by June. Kogo unveiled the deal at the weekend with Euromart at Benon Primary School where a classroom is already under construction using interlocking soil blocks.
