Heavy rains in Nyandarua have left a trail of destruction estimated at more than Sh1 billion. According to the county’s disaster management committee, infrastructure are the worst hit. Deputy governor Waithaka Kirika, who heads the team, said several dams including Matundura, Heni, kwa Makumi, Karuru and Kamonji have either been destroyed or swept away by floods.
