Retired Mombasa Catholic Archbishop Boniface Lele has died at 66. The archbishop had been hospitalised at Mombasa Hospital for a week after suffering what close friends said was a cardiac arrest. He succumbed at yesterday at 1.30pm. It is not clear what caused the cardiac arrest but Lele had been battling ill-health for months. He was forced to resign as the Mombasa archbishop on November 1 last year due to the health problems that made him unable to serve the church effectively.
