VETERAN political activist Koigi wa Wamwere is back in court over his detention by the Moi government in Nyayo House. Koigi was detained three times for a total of nine years by the Kenyatta and Moi governments. The Attorney General has argued that detention was legal in those years so that the government is not liable for damages. However in 2010 the High Court awarded 21 former political prisoners Sh40 million saying government had abused their fundamental rights.
