A 75-year-old man sentenced to life imprisonment by a Nakuru court for defiling two sisters has made an application at the High Court seeking to stay that sentence pending his appeal. Joseph Kamau Githu was in March this year convicted by the Nakuru magistrate’s court of defiling the two girls aged nine and five years old in 2011. Following the elderly man’s failure to attend court on numerous occasions for the ruling, the trial magistrate Judicaster Nthuku had read the judgment in his absence while also issuing a warrant for his arrest.
