Illegal Nyeri loggers face arrest, prosecution

THE government has warned it will arrest and prosecute illegal loggers. Nyeri county commissioner Michael Mwangi said the illegal loggers have hindered the government and local community efforts to conserve the environment. Mwangi was speaking at Lachuta Primary School in Kieni West district during the launch of the Nyeri county tree planting project where more than 3,000 seedlings of indigenous trees were planted. “We cannot spare anyone involved in illegal logging especially at the two water towers of Aberdare and Mt Kenya forests,” he said.
