KENYA Maritime Authority has appealed to ship owners and shipping companies to offer opportunities for onboard learning to maritime students. KMA director general Nancy Karigithu yesterday said the industry is lacking capacity building. Karigithu said maritime students lack onboard experience which is required for them to be certified to operate in the sea. She said despite a big number of shipping companies operating in Kenyan waters, only one has agreed to take maritime students for on-sea training.
