THE Senate’s Rules and Business Committee has established a sub committee to review the Standing Orders and recommend possible amendments. The Standing Orders, which were drafted and approved by MPs last January, have proved a nightmare to members in the conduct of business. The decision by the Senate to propose the amendments to the Standing Orders arise from concerns by members that the rules are inadequate with some provisions hindering smooth conduct of business.
