Mombasa county has been identified as the poorest in water service provision among the top five major cities and towns in Kenya. According to a report by the Article 19 East Africa, an NGO dealing with the defence of freedom of expression and right of information, Mombasa county only receives piped water for an average of eight hours a day, the lowest compared to other lows of 16 hours in Nairobi and Eldoret.
