MAIZE farmers in Narok expect a bumper harvest this season. The positive turn of events follows huge losses incurred last year due to massive crop failure. Narok, which is the country’s largest maize production belt, experienced the necrosis disease that damaged their farms. The disease was first reported in Bomet before spreading to neighbouring Narok, Nakuru and Nyamira. “Last year, farmers reaped almost nothing after a withering crop disease ravaged the maize plant. If the long rains go on uninterrupted, we will have a good harvest,” said John Kishoyian.
