AN oral hygienist has called on parents and caregivers to observe their children’s teeth from birth. Sheliza Mitha from the Aga Khan University Hospital says good oral hygiene begins before the baby’s first teeth comes out. “By cleaning the gums with a damp wash-cloth, bacteria build up that can be harmful to the mouth is removed,” she says. Mitha says the routine ensures children clean their mouths, fostering good oral hygiene.
