Dad's way of delivering us from evil

Back in the days, our aunties and other visitors would come with all the hodge-podges of niceties, packed in kyondos (baskets) to the brim. And we would, as children, play outside with vigour, not because the play mattered, but as a strategy to save ourselves from counting hours of the visitors' stay which were painfully long. We wanted them gone as soon as they dropped the kyondos so that we could assemble and dismantle everything they had brought to us. But the more we played, the more they stayed! Sadly that was not our case!...
