Forty five elephants have been killed by poachers at Laikipia Nature Conservancy in the last one year, the conservancy director Kuki Gallmann has said. Speaking to wildlife stakeholders at Kinamba Catholic Church in Laikipia West at the weekend, Kuki said the poachers were only able to get away with tusks from 12 elephants because of the swift action by the Kenya Wildlife Service and guards employed at the conservancy.
