Baringo Central MP Gideon Moi yesterday beat Meru senator Kiraitu Murungi to the chairmanship of the powerful Energy, Roads and Transportation senate committee. Kiraitu has campaigned for the position aggressively but when the committee members voted, Moi managed to get six votes against Kiraitu's three. The immediate former Energy minister's loss was replicated across the board as members of the Jubilee alliance failed to clinch most of the Senate departmental committee chairpersons' seats.
