KISII A workers union has accused tea factories in Nyamira and Kisii counties of summary dismissals. The Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Workers Union said the factories are infringing on the rights of the workers. Speaking yesterday in their Kisii office, union secretary Thomas Maroko said the factories are hiring and sacking seasonal workers against labour laws. Maroko said as per a new collective bargaining agreement, the factories should increase the salaries of workers by 24 per cent in two years. “Factories should implement the increment at 12 percent annually,” he said.
