Meru governor Peter Munya has criticised the law for providing minimum academic qualifications for county executives but failed to provide the same for Cabinet Secretaries. Munya, who was speaking during the swearing in of county executives, said President Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto failed by nominating one person without a degree yet the minimum academic threshold for a county executive is a degree and at least five years minimum experience in a relevant field. "This means the county governments will be better run than the national government," he said.
