LSK offers free service for seized tinted cars
The Law Society of Kenya will provide free legal services to owners of private cars that will be impounded by the police over tinted windows. Speaking to the Star yesterday, LSK chair Eric Mutua said they are mobilising their members across the country to take up the cases immediately complaints are filed. President Uhuru Kenyatta has moved Mt Kenya University boss Simon Gicharu from Geothermol Development Authority to Rural Electrification Authority. Gicharu swops places with Faisal Abass. Gicharu has been having difficulties with the GDC CEO Silas Simiyu. At some point Gicharu asked for Simuyu’s removal accusing the CEO of mismanagement among other things. AUTHORITIES at Immaculate Conception Mukuyu Girls Secondary School in Cherangany have appealed forhelp to rebuild a dormitory burned on Tuesday. Principal Mary Wafula said more than 140 girls sleep in classrooms converted into dormitories. “We have so far received minimal assistance, we urge the government and other well wishers to help build a new dormitory,” she said. Police in Parklands last evening launched investigation into the murder of a woman shot dead in broad day light in Westland’s yesterday. Sonal Shah was shot twice in the head by criminals who attacked her in her homein Brookside gardens. Muite to handle Malili Ranch case
Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has appointed lawyer Paul Muite to handle the Malili Ranch fraud allegations. In a statement to newsrooms yesterday, Tobiko tasked Muite with reviewing the file and earlier decisions made by the DPP in related matters. “Muite will advice whether sufficient evidence is disclosed to prosecute the suspects (or any of them) or any other person named in the present file,” Tobiko said. The 5,000 acres were bought by the national government at Sh1 billion for the construction of Konza Technocity.

TSC revokes transfer of Nandi school principal
THE Teachers Service Commission has rescinded a earlier decision to transfer the principal of St Mary’s Tach-Assis Girls High School in Tinderet. The planned transfer led to demonstrations and suspension of teaching at the institution. KFS on mission to reclaim Embobut Forest
THE Kenya Forest Service has stepped up efforts to reclaim more than 7,000 hectares of forests destroyed by squatters in Embobut Forest. KFS head of conservancy in the North Rift Solomon Mibei said the agency has deployed extra staff to plant trees on the destroyed areas of the forest in Elgeyo Marakwet county. Five people have been killed and three others wounded in Rhamu town, Mandera county following clashes between Garre and Degodia clans.
